Millwall Girls’ Centre of Excellence and Lewisham Football Partnership are delighted to announce that we have been granted a Licence for the coming season. The news was received yesterday with the FA releasing a statement which read:
After a long and robust application process, The FA is delighted to announce the 30 organisations that have been granted a one year FA Licence to run a Girls’ Centre of Excellence for the 2011 – 2012 season.
The FA Girls’ Centres of Excellence Sub Committee looked at every application in detail. The strength of each application and the supporting evidence provided, was benchmarked against other applications in each locality. Detailed consideration was especially given to 4 major areas:
1. Meeting the strict criteria associated with running a FA Girls’ Centre of Excellence
2. Centres that provide a direct link to the 8 FA WSL clubs
3. Centres that had a track record of producing England players or clearly demonstrated the infrastructure and potential to do so
4. Ensure a geographical spread of FA Girls’ Centres of Excellence
Millwall Centre Manager Paul Palmer commented: We are obviously delighted to be granted a licence and we are now looking forward to the new season with great excitement. The Centre will now push on with preparations for the 2011-12 season which begins with our trials. The trials are taking place this Saturday at Bacons College, Timber Pond Road, SE16 6AT. Since the announcement on Tuesday we have been overwhelmed with the response from parents wishing to register a place for their daughters at the trials. The response means that we now need to extend the day in order to give every player the opportunity to be seen. The new times for each age groups are listed below.
U11′s – Saturday 4th June – 10:30am-12:30pm
U13′s – Saturday 4th June – 10:30am-12:30pm
U15′s – Saturday 4th June - 3:00pm-5:00pm
U17′s – Saturday 4th June - 5:00pm-7:00pm
The second round of trials are for those players invited back after the first round. This will take place on Sunday 19th June also at Bacons College.
U15′s – Sunday 19th June – 10:00am-12:00pm
U17′s – Sunday 19th June – 12:00pm-2:00pm
