LIONESSES RESERVES 3, BRENTFORD LADIES 5.
Published by Millwall Lionesses Media on August 8, 2011
A very physical and disciplined Bees side managed to achieve a win vs a young Lionesses Reserves side. Brentford got on the score sheet early on in the 5th minute, doubling their lead few minutes later on with a corner kick. The Lionesses started to play some good football and a good move from the midfielders forced the Bees’ keeper to make a good save. On the 35th minute the Bees managed to score their third goal after some poor defending from the Lionesses. Their fourth goal came shortly afterwards from a back pass to our keeper that bounced off her foot and went in.
In the second half the Lionesses seemed like a new side, with a skilful goal being scored by Yelliz Ibrahim which got the girls’ spirits up. On the 67th minute Millwall got their second goal from a Jasmine Auguste 25 yard shot that found the top corner. Three minutes on and the Lionesses scored their third goal before pushing on for an equaliser. On the 90th minute the Bees scored their 5th goal from a penalty kick awarded by the referee which seemed very harsh. The Lionesses worked very hard and it was very unfortunate for them not to walk away with a different score. It shows that our young squad has got plenty of potential and we are looking to put a better performance on vs Watford reserves on the 21st of August and Carshalton Athletic on the 28th August .
