MILLWALL LIONESSES 5, TOOTING & MITCHAM LFC 1.

Published by Millwall Lionesses Media on August 8, 2011

An outstanding performance from the Lionesses first team, with some excellent passes around Tooting and the first goal being scored 5 minutes in with Egle Trezzi’s powerful shot finding the bottom corner of the goal. Millwall caused a lot of problems for Tooting from the flank areas with Shauni Grifiths and Isabel Kulinski delivering some powerful crosses. We found the net again on the 35th minute with a well placed corner from Grifith being delivered to Trezzi who followed through with a half volley. Angharad Chambers got the Lionesses’ 3rd goal on the 40th minute with a good left foot volley that found the top cornerof the net. At the 43rd minute the referee awarded a penalty to Tooting which Debbie Cole blocked with a fabulous save to her right.
In the second half Glancy, Ibrahim, and Grant came on to replace Auguste, Kulinski and Chambers, with Ibrahim getting her name on the score sheet straight away by chipping the ball in from 20 yards out. The Lionesses’ back five produced some excellent defending and it was good to see new signing Cally Beaumount get her first 90 minutes for the Lionesses. Wass, Strugnell, Cole and Skipper Lennon made sure that Tooting didn’t get a look in. However Tooting did manage to get on the score sheet with a long ball over the defence which everyone initially thought was offside. Ann Chambers added her second of the game with a volley that found the bottom left corner.Jo Goodwin, another new signing for the Lionesses, also played a full 90 minutes and proved how important she will be for the new season. Lionesses next fixture is on the 14th August vs Sporting Albion.

Team: Cole, Lennon, Wass, Beaumount, Strugnell, Trezzi, Goodwin, Chambers, Grifiths, Kulinski, Auguste, Ibrahim, Grant, Glancy.
