MATCH REPORT- WHU 3, LIONESSES 1.

Published by Millwall Lionesses Media on August 29, 2011

The Lionesses have come out of this game very disappointed of not picking any points vs West Ham. For the first 30 minutes Millwall dominated the play with some excellent team work passing the ball around the hammers. Shauni Griffiths looked as dangerous as ever taking on the west ham left back and successfully going past her and delivering dangerous crosses that their defence found it difficult to deal with. On the fifth minute a corner from Griffiths found Cally Beaumont header that hit the cross bar and everyone in the stadium apart from the Referee didn’t see it cross the line. The Lionesses continued to press but not able to find the net with Malesevic and Chambers going close.
The Hammers found the break on the 30th minute from a good strike that found the top corner. Miinutes latter on the 35th minute they added their second from a good worked throw, Gemma Sheperd got the ball past Trezzi and found the target with a good strike from 25 yards out.
Second half the Lionesses started the game with urgency. Francesca Ali’s runs from midfield caused problems but was not able to threaten the West Ham goal with their defence standing guard.
West ham got their third goal on the 65th minute from a good one touch play and another excellent strike found the top corner that Deborah Cole couldn’t keep out
The Lionesses got a goal back on the 70th minute from a corner delivered from Kulinski that Kasia Viggor meet and got her 3rd goal in 2 games.
Last 15 minutes of the game Millwall tried to get back in the game and very unfortunate not to get their second from an excellent free kick that Malesevic was inches wide.
Alberto Kurti.
