SECOND HALF COMEBACK SECURES FIRST WIN.

Published by Millwall Lionesses Media on September 28, 2011

Millwall’s first win came at the expense of Colchester United, despite a dismissal and former Lioness Kate Longhurst opening the scoring for the U’s. Shauni Griffiths rounded a defender to lob Millwall level on 55 minutes and 10 minutes later a Griffiths pulled the ball back across goal for Angharad Chambers to tap home. The hosts went down to ten with Francissca Ali shown a red card with 20 minutes left and it was level as a defender deflected Longhurst’s cross into her own net. But from a corner the ball dropped to Kasia Viggor 2 yards out with her back to goal, shooting on the turn the keeper at full length got her hand to ball but was unable to stop it crossing the line.
